Conclusion

There are 5 steps to the patient care process: Assess, Diagnose, Plan, Implement, & Evaluate. During your first semester as dental hygiene students you learned about the basic assessment tools you use during patient care. This semester you started to apply this knowledge in clinical care.  This WebQuest concentrated on DHDx (diagnosis) and planning.

There is usually more than one way to solve any problem. During the process of completing this WebQuest you discussed options with your team and negotiated a solution (the treatment plan). Hopefully, everyone contributed and the solution was mutually agreeable.

Participating in the WebQuest should impact/improve your patient care in the clinic. The process is probably more important than the solution, in the long run. The skills you learned will support your clinical experience.

The WebQuest also required you to create & submit products electronically. Sometimes students question the purpose of learning to make graphs or using the internet (or Course Space). Electronic communication and technology is growing by leaps and bounds. It will be more prevalent in the future. I hope that these exercises help to build your confidence with this medium.  It will help to prepare you for future assignments in this class, during the remainder of your educational experience, and throughout your life.
